While all should stay aware of what they need to do to keep safe in light of COVID-19, we do not want our faculty or students to be disabled by fear or panic around the disease.

Learn mindful awareness skills to find your center and navigate fear in the midst of crisis—and to help your students do the same. Anxiety and worry manifest in several dimensions of our experience. Our bodies may become tense and our stomachs upset; our emotional lives may feel haywire; and our thoughts may spin catastrophic scenarios that leave us ungrounded and sleepless. This online session will offer practices for finding calm and clarity through fear, along with ways to teach your students to do the same.

Adam Ortman is the Mindfulness Director at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, an independent K-12 school in Austin, TX, where he works to design and implement mindfulness curricula for students, faculty, and parents at the school. Adam has been practicing mindfulness meditation since 2007, including over a year of intensive retreat. He received a Masters of Divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School, for which he focused on secular applications of contemplative practices.
