Overview
- Participants in this two-year program will be a part of a cohort.
The cohort will be made up of roughly 12-15 participants and two facilitators.
- The members of the cohort will be current deans of students and a small number of aspiring dean of students.
- Each year there will be six units each focusing on a theme that is deeply relevant to the Dean of Students Office.
- Each unit includes:
- A recorded presentation (roughly an hour long) by a guest speaker that cohort members are required to watch in advance of each cohort meeting.
- A live hour-long Q&A session with the guest speaker which is not required but strongly recommended
- A required 90-minute cohort meeting
- Cohort meeting time will include: discussion of recorded guest speaker, the presentation of a case study by one of the members, and insights from professional development events.
-
In the second year, the cohort will develop a capstone project that will be presented (online or in person) at the annual CSEE Deans’ of Students’ Summit.
-
The group facilitator will provide 1:1 conversation with each participant once per year.
Cost and Benefit
- Day rate attendance at any CSEE event or virtual department is free while in this program. Participants will be encouraged to attend those events that will round out their knowledge.
- The cost for CSEE Members: $2,000 each year for two years. For Non-Members: $3,000 each year for two years.
Schedule
- To the best of our ability, we will work to schedule the cohort meetings at a time that works for all members of the group.
- If the established dates will not work
for a participant, they may withdraw from the program before the program starts.
- Everyone who is accepted into the program but declines the offer before the binding date will have the option of joining a cohort the following year.
- Once the program begins, all cohort
members will be expected to prioritize all of the sessions. Anyone who misses more than one session will be withdrawn from the program.
Capstone Project
- During the second year, each participant will work on a capstone project.
- The project will conclude with a capstone project to be presented to one’s peers at the annual CSEE Deans of Students’ Summit during the spring of the second year.
- The cohort facilitators will be available to help guide the project.
