Charlie Housiaux • University School of Milwaukee, WI

Charlie Housiaux currently serves as Dean of Students and Upper School English teacher at the University School of Milwaukee. He has been the Dean of Students since 2017, focusing time and energy on student leadership and discipline, the advising program, and student-driven organizations—working together with student leaders, teachers, class deans, and school administrators. Charlie teaches 10th grade literature and coaches 5th grade basketball. Before working at USM, Charlie taught, coached, and served as a curricular leader and summer school director at Ransom Everglades School in Miami, FL. Charlie attended UW-Madison, graduating with distinction with a B.A. in English and Integrated Liberal Studies, and then earned an M.A. from Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English. Charlie lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his wonderful family—Erin, CJ, and Eliza.

 

   

 

Mashea Matthews • St. John's Episcopal School, TX

Meshea served as Dean of Students at The Hockaday School before becoming the Head of School at St. John’s Episcopal School in Dallas. Having provided leadership in the areas of advisory, residential life, discipline, global outreach, and student activities, she has a deep well of experience with, and empathy for, deans of students. A servant leader at heart, she is driven by curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Prior to working in independent schools, Meshea worked as a producer in sports media. Meshea has a bachelor of science degree from Texas Wesleyan University and sits on the boards of CSEE and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest. Meshea lives in Dallas with her husband and near their two children and their families.

 

 

 

Kate Parker-Burgard •  CSEE and St. Luke's School, CT 

Kate served as dean of students at Lake Forest Academy in Illinois and at St. Luke's School in New Canaan, CT. Her 30-year career in independent schools has focused on all things related to student life, community service, discipline, and leadership. Kate presently works part time as the Director for Engagement for CSEE and part time as the Director of Community Connections for St. Luke's School where she also teaches two electives: Life Worth Living and a Service Seminar. Kate has a bachelor of arts degree from Hamilton College and a master of divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary. Prior to working in independent schools, she was pastor of churches in Newburgh, NY, and Staten Island. Kate lives in Norwalk, CT with her husband. They are parents of two adult sons who both work for nonprofit organizations in New York.
