About the topic:

Whether one is teaching an entire course dedicated to the study of Islam or simply covering the basics in a World Religions overview, this webinar will provide concise, helpful, and inspiring examples of “best practices” when it comes to introducing students to the world’s second largest, and most commonly misunderstood, religion. Presenting a clear and honest depiction of the various movements within Islam today is vital for students to make sense of current events, challenge prejudice, and develop a nuanced vision of religion writ large.

Amy Wright Glenn, MA Teachers College, Columbia University, taught Islamic Studies: East and West for over a decade at The Lawrenceville School, New Jersey. Glenn received the Dunbar Abston Jr. Chair for Teaching Excellence and has traveled to Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Israel/Palestine, and attended multiple conferences and workshops hosted by various Islamic groups in the US. Glenn is a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, hospital chaplain, birth doula, and author. Glenn draws upon best teaching practices -- learned through study, trial, and error -- in offering up this important webinar.
