About

Creating a culture of academic integrity is a top priority for schools, and a well-crafted honor code, backed by a system for education and implementation, can be just the tool for success. Join facilitator Christy Fairman and independent school teams of faculty and students from around North America for this three-day event. Enjoy

  • targeted presentations from school groups sharing facets of their honor programs
  • small group discussions
  • case study explorations
  • a presentation from Stanford University’s Judicial Panel, who will share a summary of their system and types of cases and outcomes
  • a panel of college admissions officers and high school college counselors, who will talk about how honor and disciplinary actions affect admissions.

This year’s conference will focus on taking academic integrity to the next level.

  • How does your honor system prepare your students for college?
  • What steps can you take to bring honor and academic integrity to the forefront of your student’s minds?
  • How do you help your honor council students prepare for the difficult decisions they have to make, and the conversations they have with their peers after a case?

This event is also a great orientation for students who are new to the council. School teams comprised of faculty and students, and individual faculty are welcome! Most meals are included in the price of registration.

What past participants have to say about this event:

"Conferences can easily be super polished and slick, but leave you walking away with little to show for it. Not this one. I truly regret that I couldn't have had some of my students there."

"I thought the pace was just about perfect. The conference kept moving but didn't feel rushed. I had plenty of time to ask questions of the whole group and in social circles during meals. Just hearing what other schools are thinking about, struggling with, falling on swords for, and hoping to change was both enlightening and reassuring."

"I was always thinking of 'when I get back I am...' thoughts after hearing the information. I appreciated the time to chat with other schools and hear how things are being done."

"I liked everything from the "here's how we do it" presentations to the thought-provoking case studies. It helped me understand where my school fits in the continuum of honor policies and practices and gave me ideas to bring back."
