About

Come to this lively interactive workshop to hone your listening skills and learn how to deepen your relationships with your students and advisees. Ellen Porter Honnet, Ed.D., a counseling psychologist and the Director of the Stanley King Counseling Institute has worked with independent school educators for over 30 years, helping them identify and amplify their interpersonal skills working with students. Teachers will add to their depth of understanding of the societal influences that are shaping the environment in which they work and live, and the powerful forces their students also navigate and bring into the school. Through case presentations, vignettes and specific skill-building and discussion we’ll share strategies and tools for creating a sense of belonging and community.

Dr. Ellen Porter Honnet is a counseling and consulting psychologist with a degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her primary work now is with students and adults. King Counseling Institute, teaching teachers listening skills and other tools useful for building deeper and more meaningful relationships with students.
