Discussing Post-9/11 Islam with Students

In this special pre-recorded webinar, Dr. Afsaruddin will be addressing topics and answering question from independent school educators. Participants that have questions about Islam post 9/11, gender, terrorism, and other issues, are invited to submit these to info@csee.org by December 15th. A link to the recorded webinar will be available from November 4th - February, for viewing at your convenience.
How do teachers respond to students when they ask questions about Islam, post 9/11? Asma Afsaruddin, associate professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Notre Dame, offers suggestions, and answers questions on the topic of gender, terrorism, and other issues in modern islam. Afsaruddin is the author of several books, including Excellence and Precedence: Medieval Islamic Discourse on Legitimate Leadership, and Hermaneutics and Honor: Negotiation of Female "Public" Space in Islamic/ate Societies.
