Today celebrates Anant, one from of Lord Vishnu. Hindus vow to honor Vishnu, and if this vow is kept for 14 years they will see wealth. This is also the last day of Ganesh Utsav, a 10-day Hindu celebration. Statues (idols) of Lord Ganesha are carried to seas, lakes or rivers to be immersed in the water, accompanied by devotional songs and dancing. Jains celebrate this day with special worship and processions to the community’s main temple.
