About the Documentary

What Do You Believe? portrays Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Pagan, Native American, and Jewish young people sharing their most personal struggles and beliefs about faith, morality, suffering, death, prayer, the purpose of life, and the divine.

Without a hint of dogma they candidly discuss  everything from hormones to heaven, they deflate misperceptions and stereotypes at every turn, and make a strong case for a more tolerant America.

Featured on PBS and at numerous film festivals, this sensitively filmed, thought-provoking glimpse into the private and public lives of American teens deals with issues that are at the very heart of being human.

CSEE Executive Director David Streight has called What Do You Believe? “the finest teen discussion-provoker about being religious, being spiritual, and understanding others in modern religious America that I’ve seen.”
